    Low cost sanitary napkins would soon revolutionize menstrual health for rural women here 

Rural women in Dasna district of Ghaziabad would soon be able to yield the twin benefits of getting employment opportunities and better menstrual due to an initiative that's being launched here. Under Swachch Bharat mission, Panchayat Udyog Dasna has been chosen for production of sanitary napkins.

 

Speaking about the project, Zila Panchayat Raj Aadhikari Virendra Singh informed, “The aim of the project is to ensure it is supplied to as many lower-income class women and spread awareness on benefits of adopting hygienic practices. The machinery, brought from Jayaashree Industries Coimbatore, has already been set up at Panchayat Udyog Dasna." One packet of sanitary napkin containing 8 pads will be sold for Rs. 20 and 6 pieces packet will cost Rs. 15.

 

“The aim of the project is to make sure that sanitary napkins are available to women at an affordable cost,” Singh added. He also said that by making sanitary napkins, rural women will be able to get employment and hone their professional skills. This way they will be able to monetarily support themselves.
