Using Organic cotton topsheet for pads

2021-07-02

Many brands talk about how organic pads/tampons are great with no toxins and chlorine bleach, but they barely talk about how it actually feels to use the organic pads/tampons compared to the non-organic ones.

Breathable

Organic pads are more breathable compared with ones made with synthetic fibers. “Regular sanitary pads have a lot of plastic content and can cause skin irritation and allergic reactions. Organic pads contain an absorbent cellulose core which locks away menstrual fluid to keep you dry, and a soft organic cotton cover that allows your skin to breathe.

Comfortability

Pads that are made with synthetic fibers contains only a small percentage of cotton, and some of them contain no cotton at all. They use fabrics with certain characteristics to simulate the texture of cotton. But above all, they are not natural and may cause irritation or even allergic reactions. As we often can notice, pads from most of the common brands on the market are perforated. When you touch the surface of the pad, you can feel that it’s a little bumpy and not as soft as the 100% organic cotton pads.

Dryness

Here comes the trickiest thing about the difference between using the organic cotton pads and the synthetic ones. Lots of women found the wetness more noticeable while using organic pads compared to the synthetic ones. It makes us think that the pad’s not absorbent enough. But it’s not that simple. Take NannoPad as an example, the absorption of Super is 180ml, and the normal amount of a woman’s flow is 30-80ml per cycle. When it comes to 80ml or more, that can be considered as heavy flow. As a result, we can say that the absorption of NannoPad is way more than the total volume of a menstrual cycle for almost every woman. Then why the wetness? It is because of the nature of organic cotton, the surface of a 100% organic cotton pad cannot be perforated like the synthetic fabrics. As we mentioned earlier, pads made with synthetic fiber have a perforated surface, which absorbs a little faster than the organic cotton pads. So even though a pad that’s made with organic cotton can absorb a lot more flow, some women may feel the need of changing it a little more than the synthetic ones.

After all, we’re in a time that women are more aware and care about holistic health, which is a good thing. The use of organic pad/tampon lessens the chance of allergy and irritation. Plus, the plant of organic cotton takes 71% less water and 62% less energy to produce. It brings better effects on both our body and the environment.

If you are one of the growing numbers of people who believe that natural products are superior to synthetic ones in so many ways, you should try organic cotton materials.
